This is the one she made for Charm City Cupcake Camp. She is happy to make something special for you and it's made from paper (in case you didn't already catch on)! I couldn't believe it was paper until I saw what she designed for our Cupcake Camp. Our fabulous judges (Alayne from Charm City Cookbook Club, Keara from the Ooh La La Cupcakery and Devin) for making there way through the nearly 40 cupcakes submitted for the cupcake competition. We would also like to thank Elizabeth from Charm City Cookbook Club for suggesting her friend Alyane as a judge as well as, Lan from Angry Asian Creations for suggesting Devin. I must say that it was quite the experience to eat nearly 40 cupcakes! Here are some of the cupcakes we ALL enjoyed and even wanted more of...

Charm City proved we know how to have a sweet and successful event. The first Charm City Cupcake Camp by Rachel Rappaport (event organizer) is so proud of the outcome; we had 70 people attend, 40 people enter the contest and plentiful cupcakes to share!

Thank you Whole Foods in Harbor East for supplying our attendees with these delicious and beautiful cupcakes. Their baker designed and tested cupcake recipes just for the event! It paid off because the entire tray of five dozen cupcakes was devoured before the event was over! They only items left on the tray were those tiny and sweet curls of white chocolate.

Whole Foods also donated compostable plates, napkins, utensils and water. The water was quite the palette cleanser! I know as a judge, I was able to enjoy and taste more cupcakes as the event went on! The attendees must of felt the same because there were not that many cupcakes left at the end! Whole Foods also donated beautiful and bright reusable bags! Perfect to hold your lunch and the prizes for our winners!

The Desert Cafe located in Mount Washington

The Desert Cafe donated a gift certificate to their Mediterranean cuisine eatery where they offer gluten-free choices, BYOB and over 50 flavors of savory and sweet flavored hummus. One lucky cupcake winner has the choice between Maryland flavored hummus such as, old bay or something sweet like cinnamon raisin. I highly recommend the cinnamon raisin! The Desert Cafe is true to Baltimore and is seen at local markets. Cupcakes are never out of season and Desert Cafe has created their hummus to do the same.

Today is the big day cupcake lovers! Cupcake Camp is taking over Charm City (and hopefully without any rain). I am sure you have been up all night and morning prepping and baking your delicious cupcakes. In just a few hours all of your hard work will be paid off. Your reward is at the Blue Hill Tavern where over half of our attendees will display their cupcakes and prepare for the cupcake lovers to devour them.

Our volunteer Kelsey will be walking around the event taking pictures of cupcakes, the attendees and anything else you may want. She will be happy to snap a photo the main stars: you and your fabulous cupcakes!

Bakers while you walk around with your cupcakes, feel free to offer any baking advice or give away any little secrets to your baking success.

Our judges include: Keara from The Ooh La La Cupcakery, your very own Angry Asian Creator Lan, her accomplice serving with dignity and honor, Devin and a fellow member of the Charm City Cookbook Club, Alayne. Baltimore has put on quite the bar crawls in the past; lots of people, drinks and food. Cupcake Camp mocks this idea but in a classy and more tasteful form. Literally! You get to taste your way around the venue without the crawling!

Convenience is a major part of our daily lives and what could be more convenient than drinks and plentiful of delicious cupcakes in one fantastic place. However, there are two things you must accomplish if you wish to take part in this event: register and print out your tickets to enter!! Girls and boys just want to have fun and Charm City Cupcake Camp is a fantastic event to have a good time. Just like cupcakes are in fashion with celebrities, so is volunteering for local events and businesses. We hear Madonna traveling to developing countries and the Barefoot Contessa hosting dinner parties for charity events in the Hamptons. Your cupcakes may not look this fancy (mine won't) but you certainly can be by volunteering at the event. Cupcakes and volunteering are things I don't see going out of style anytime soon.

The days are ticking away quickly...only 7 days left until the ticket box closes for Charm City Cupcake Camp.

I am ecstatic to see how many people are participating in the competition (I mean contest) because we have many fantastic sponsors who donated prizes for you cupcake lovers! Not only do you get to enjoy free cupcakes at the event, you also have a chance to win cupcake wine and gift cards to cupcakeries! Just like you can never hide from technology, you can't hide from cupcakes. And why would you want to!

One of our fellow cupcake lovers and attendees asked if they could bring cupcake pops and I thought this was a fantastic idea. After checking with our organizer, she agreed it was a neat idea as well.

You heard it hear first, there will be cupcake pops at the Charm City Cupcake Event! Now, if you have not experienced cupcake pops, you are totally missing out. Everything is better on a stick, right? (Or is that everything is better fried?) Either way, cupcake pops are something to add to list of foods you have eaten. The ones I had had a hard shell of chocolate on the outside and it was soft and gooey on the inside. Perfection people, perfection.

As many of you know, CupcakeCamp Charm City has partnered with Blue Hill Tavern this year to put on a show-stopping event. Be sure to check out Blue Hills fantastic menu. Everyone is more than welcome to stay after the event and enjoy a delicious dinner. You've already had a mouth-watering dessert course so now you need a savory dinner and you don't even have to leave the building! Having dessert first is quite the treat!

They have a selection of inexpensive Snacks if you are too full for their Crab Cakes or Beer Cheese Soup. If want to fuel your body with something else besides cupcakes, Blue Hill Tavern is the place to do so. Don't tell yourself you will come back next time to dine here ( I tell myself that all the time) because it we months or years from now. You're there so eat as many cupcakes as your sweet tooth desires and then dine at the Blue Hill Tavern.

Mix and Measure Properly

Wet ingredients, such as water and oil, are best measured in glass cups placed on a level surface. Dry ingredients, like flour and sugar, are measured most accurately in cups that are flat on top, which allows you to level the dry ingredients with a spatula or knife before adding them to the mixing bowl.

Eating healthy and exercising has become a major trend, especially with celebrity fitness instructors and weight lose television shows. We need you! I know you can't wait for the day to come and I am right there with you. We need your assistance in making the event the best and most successful it can be. We are looking for volunteers to help us set-up (sneak peak at the cupcakes before anyone else!), cupcake bouncers to make sure people are eating cupcakes in the designated areas (nothing is cooler than having the title as "Cupcake Bouncer") as well as a clean up crew. We are hoping to having two to three volunteers for each category of volunteers, which you can check out the list here: Volunteers!!

Why not burn off some calories after the event by helping us put away tables or during the event and carry cupcakes to the stage? Maybe you despise cleaning and you're more of a people person. If so, we have a volunteer area for you by helping us check-in people and their cupcakes.

Many people consider food to be a form of art. There is a pastry chef in San Francisco that I watched on The Best Thing I Ever Ate, who makes a cake based off a piece of art in a museum.

I consider cupcakes to be art. After doing a lot of cupcake research and google imaging, I realized how one can take a plain cupcake and transform it into something unique. Cupcakes can be an expression of your favorite foods, such as this coconut and banana cupcake. I picture this combination of dessert flavors be presented warm and in a mini souffle dish. By Presenting the flavors in a cupcake, they become elegant and more appreciated.

Now, if you're really looking for eye candy and fantastic ideas for your cupcakes, definitely check out these pictures of cupcakes. Even if you are not baking, the presentation and combination of flavors will help you become a cupcake expert on the day of the event. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday (even though the weather is slightly cloudy). I found this interesting and unique (wink, wink for the contest) cupcake recipe called Carrot Pistachio. Often, it's nice to be a hermit and stay home. Today seems like the perfect day to bake cupcakes and curl up on the couch with one. Baking cupcakes makes your whole house smell delicious and it gives you a warm feeling. Yesterday, I suggested to move registering for the cupcake event to the top of your list (I hope you did)! Under "Register for Charm City Cupcake Camp," you should add "Finalize cupcake recipe." Also, make sure you have enough room in your schedule for prep and baking time.

To make the finding a good and reliable recipe easier on you, I will be posting a variety of cupcake recipes for the next few days. I enjoy making other peoples lives less stressful and I find it entertaining to search for cupcake recipes.

Cupcakes bring happiness to a Wednesday

Today is Wednesday! Therefore, many great and new things are happening today. First, Wednesday implies we are half way through the work week! Today I am going to use my new cupcake flavored lip gloss from Bare Minerals for my day of classes (don't stress because you can buy some tomorrow). Later, I will celebrate the first day of a new semester with a dessert wine called "Cupcake" (it's one of the many fabulous prizes we are giving away at the event). What's better than coming home to cupcake themed anything? That's right, nothing!

26 days until the Cupcake Event!

Over the weekend, I noticed a lot of cupcake accessories including, this rubber key holder. Cupcakes are making themselves more known in grocery stores and bakeries with their unique decorations and flavors as well as, clothing stores and kiosks in the mall.

Cupcakes may have started to take part in the 6 degrees rule of seperation because they always seem to make their way back to my mind. I passed a cotton candy kiosk in the mall and I thought, "What about a cotton candy flavored cupcake?" Friends of friends will approach or message me with new ideas about cupcakes or something they experienced related to cupcakes. Who knows, maybe you will find a mutaul friend with someone at the event. But you'll never know until you register and attend here: Event Invite

The big 29 is here and it occurred on a great day for baking. While you may be collecting supplies for the East Coast weather, make sure your baking supplies is fully stocked. What else is there to do on a rainy day anyways? Baking is productive and soothing. Cupcakes will keep everyone in your household happy and distracted from any of the weather conditions. Trust me. Baking always occurs when its wet and gray outside.

Crave over Cupcake liners

After watching the London Cupcake Camp video I became really excited about Cupcake liners. The designs and colors are endless. I saw ones that looked like coffee filters and I began to search for environmentally friendly cupcake liners. I found this great website that incorporates entertaining supplies with products made from bamboo and potatoes. They promote their non-toxic products and stress their concern for global warming and the environment. The standard plastic ware is difficult and time consuming to break down. So if you are one to use straws, plates and utensils look for an environmentally friendly product. This website has an abundant of choices.

Cupcake Camp London with flare

Cupcake Camp has made its way to London, which is no surprise because it’s a fantastic city. I found this really cute, fun and mouth-watering video about how they performed Cupcake Camp.

The video is neat because it provides tips for you Charm City Cupcake attendees. If you are baking: Videos and cookbooks (my mom has a cupcake cookbook) really deliver a nice visual of what the final product should look like. I find when it comes to dessert presentation is what forces you to forget about the calories and sugar overload.

As a judge or attendee, you are most likely going to select a cupcake that catches your eye, regardless of the flavor. A clean finished product is what people look for: smooth frosting, unique presentation and a fun design. There are a lot of simple features people used to present their cupcakes such as, the themed labels for their cupcakes. It’s a very nice and simple touch.

You can approach your cupcake anyway you wish. Just watch the video and see for yourself (I really enjoyed the zebra liners and umbrellas).

Square cupcakes, cupcake flavored candles and flavors like coconut and bubblegum. I discovered a cupcake kiosk in the Towsontown Center and they bake square cupcakes! I thought this was a cool and neat technique for baking cupcakes. To me, it seems that the squares would make it easier to remove the cupcakes from the tray as well as eating them. You have four corners to choose from to sink your teeth through the smooth frosting and moist cupcake.

While the trend of following celebrities and mocking their habits may not be something you take part in, but celebrities have helped transform cupcakes into a major phenomenon. A few months ago Kim Kardashian launched The Famous Cupcake store in Beverley Hills. Other major celebrities jumping on the cupcake conveyor belt include Ryan Seacrest, Nicole Richie and The Today Show featured a segment on cupcakes. This is tasty treat has proved to make quite the reputation on it's on and transformed itself into a star.

Many of the celebrities are supporting well-known bakeries, which can be found all over the country. Wherever you may be, do your part and support the local bakeries in your area.

The cupcake event may sound overwhelming at first, but it's truly effortless.

One, you don't even need to bring cupcakes. Just show up on the 24th of September at noon. Bring yourself, a date or neighbor. Two, it's free! We only ask you to RSVP to keep a head count and make sure everyone has the chance to consume as many cupcakes as they desire. Three, the event is not just for cupcake lovers and bakers. It's going to be fantastic because it's designed for the attendees to enjoy themselves in a relaxed environment. A cupcake in one hand and a beverage in the other.

There are cupcake lovers all over the world, which is why Cupcake Camps are held worldwide. Once again, food is bringing people and cultures together. What better food to bring people together than a delicious cupcake (I can't think of any).

This cupcake event, which is 40 days away, has me head over heels for cupcakes. This morning I woke up and was deciding what to post about cupcakes and immediately, the first thing that came to my mind was cupcakes for breakfast. Is this possible? So, I typed "cupcakes for breakfast" into google to see if it was actually possible to eat cupcakes for breakfast, and it is! I found a local food blogger who eats cupcakes for breakfast. It sounds like a lot of sugar to consume early in the morning but I didn't add sugar to my coffee to make myself feel better. Spice up your Monday morning. Here a recipe for the mocha cupcakes.

Wine and cupcakes? Sure, why not?

Adding wine or basing a cupcake recipe off of an alcoholic beverage is very ideal. Going with the theme of the Dark and Stormy Cupcakes, the Chocolate Merlot Cupcakes quickly caught my interest because it was another cupcake recipe involving alcohol.

Maybe you are not familiar with the combination of wine and cupcakes, but it really infuses the cupcake with flavor and plays well with the idea of drinking a glass of wine. Instead, the wine is in the cupcake! What could be more sweet than that?

Since it will be the weekend soon and if you are of age, buy a bottle of wine and experiment. The worst that could happen is you have more wine to drink that you anticipated.

Rachel Rappaport is hosting the Charm City Cupcake Event, which is happening in 42 days!

I was reading through her blog and I came across many cupcake recipes that I wanted to make for the event. I wish I could pull her Dark and Stormy AND Lemon Drop Cupcakes out from my computer and eat them right now! Oh well, I will just have to settle for pulling them out of my oven instead.

Baking tips...

For your perfect cupcake! Here are a few:

1. Make it easy to remove cupcakes from your pan by using paper or foil wrappers. Plus, they give the cupcakes flare!

2. Fill your cupcake wells 1/2 to 2/3 full. Some bakers even said 3/4 full and use an ice cream scoop to ensure each cupcake is the same size. This will allow all of the cupcakes to be done at the same time.

3. Bake your cupcakes at the proper temperature. Preheat your own before placing the cupcakes in the oven. IMPORTANT NOTE: If your oven cooks faster at the rear of the oven, then make sure you carefully rotate the pan. Do this about halfway through the baking time.

While the CupcakeCamp is a free event, we do welcome donations and have sponsorship opportunities available! We are currently looking for prize donations for the cupcake contest.

We would also be happy for any donations of goods or money that could help offset the cost of cleaning supplies and things like fliers and other promotional materials which I am currently paying for out-of- pocket.

If your company would like to sponsor the event by either donating money, supplies or prizes they will be mentioned on all press releases and in interviews etc.
